What: Bracelet of Hope is a grassroots organization that engages Canadians in the fight against AIDS in Africa. Based in Guelph, the current focus of their work on the AIDS pandemic in Lesotho, Africa.
Where: 21 Yarmouth Street, Guelph
Volunteer Positions: As a volunteer with Bracelet of Hope, they will have you interacting with the local community to engage them in the AIDS pandemic in Africa. This can include anything from designing a fundraising campaign to providing event support. Their main avenue of community engagement is through initiatives that include the selling of their handicrafts made by women affected by HIV and AIDS in Africa.

Groves Memorial Community Hospital
What: Groves Memorial Community Hospital is a 44-bed acute care facility located in Fergus, Ontario. Their mission, as a rural hospital, is to enable people to achieve optimal health through a range of integrated health services.
Where: 235 Union St E, Fergus, ON N1M 1W3. This is not accessible by public transit, so volunteers must have their own method of transportation.
Volunteer Positions: Hospital Elder Life Program Volunteers. Volunteers provide interventions to senior patients to maintain cognitive and physical functioning. Interventions include: orientation, exercise/walking, recreation, meal assistance. Shifts available Monday-Sunday from 10am-1pm, 1pm-4pm and 5-8pm. Training is provided.

What: North America's largest municipal, volunteer-run tree planting programme. Their goal is to increase the forest cover in our County to an acceptable level. They grow and give away over 150,000 trees each year.
Where: 6714 Wellington Road 34, Puslinch, ON (Shuttle buses can be arranged from the university)
Volunteer Positions: "Pushing" seedlings - removing trees from the containers that they are growing in; Transplanting seedlings - young trees that are too small to plant in the ground are planted in containers; Packaging seedlings - trees are wrapped together in bundles of ten. Positions vary throughout the year.
